Discounts Oh My!

10/28/2019

How many of us sit and sit. Oh and sit looking for deals, steals, and other discounts.  We as a society have become accustom to finding things we need for a much affordable price that will fit our budget.  However, is that how we travel? Yes, there are great places like groupon, frontier, spirit, or expedia that will show amazing deals, but are you missing other discounts that could save you more.

Here are just a few ideas to get you saving:

Credit Cards
We all I hope decide to purchase travel protection.  According to the U.S Census Bureau 70.2% of Americans have credit cards. When was the last time your credit cards worked for you? Before purchasing a vacation look at the benefits of your credit cards. Does it cover travel protection? If so, you just saved $39-$100 automatically based on the price of your vacation. All you have to do is book your entire vacation using the card. For example: most Chase credit cards will cover luggage delays, trip interruption or cancellation, medical expenses, and more.

Reward Programs
Nowadays there are all sorts of reward programs. Hotels, airlines, and Amtrak just to name a few.  However have you ever researched deeper? Has the light bulb went off at 2am trying to find that last minute deal only to keep getting popup after popup on who has it cheaper. Then you find it cheaper only to realize you still have to pay for the checked luggage, your preferred seating, and carry-on. Why wait for that start saving in advance. Southwest not only has a Rapid Rewards credit card, they have Dining.  Which allows you to dine out at certain restaurants and receive points.  Sign Up Today https://bit.ly/2BRGtva

Senior Discounts
Yes, there is a discount for that! Majority of Americans 50 and over qualify for AARP. However, there is a low yearly cost associated with the membership.  While you might not be intrigued to pay for a membership one can still receive discounts on travel.  Marriott and Hyatt hotels offer a discount for persons 62 and older.  Choice Hotels 60 and older.  The list of possibilities keeps going.

Now that you have some idea of how to save money start practicing. Stay tuned for more discount savvy ways to save.

Are Vacations Necessary or Not?

10/16/2019

Comments

My survey says: Yes

January 30 is National Plan a Vacation Day.
Kuwait Mandated 30 days off
United Kingdom with 28 days off
However the US has 0 days mandated off
VACATION IS FAIR

Top 5 reasons:

Increases Productivity: Ever travel and come up with the best ideas. Those ideas have been there, however we become focused on deadlines or social media for examples. When we vacation we alone our senses to relax and enjoy the rest. Then without noticing we become more productive than ever.  I always recommend taking a notebook on vacation for those ideas.

Sleep Better: While we love our own beds, most hotels/ resorts have luxury linens. The thread count is higher, the pillows are fluffier, and the thought of waking up without a calendar leaves your mind at ease.  On average while vacationing a person will sleep at least eight hours, will not set an alarm clock, and will often times not plan to do anything until after 10 am. My recommendation ask for extra pillows.

Find you again: Do you or do you know someone that says they are on vacation but cannot tell because they are always online? You know who they are with, what they ate, where they are, what they are doing, and they come back and say did you miss me? You say? Vacations are Necessary to help you find you again, after taking care of the significant other, the pets, the business, the 9-5, the home, the car, mom, dad, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, neighbors, and whom ever wanted to slide in there. Take the time to disconnect and find your peace. Find the person you want to return home to.
Adrenaline Rush: You ever wanted to do something fun and spontaneous but never had the time? Well on vacation you can rip up those itinerary and wing it. Go sky diving, hot air balloon, learn to surf, learn a new culture, try new foods, or whatever it is that has been holding you back. Be like Nike and Just DO it!

Improved Mood: Have you ever been working so much that your overall mood has decreased? You know it, your boss can tell, and if that one co-worker says something they might catch it.  Well we do not want you to get fired.  Taking long vacations are wonderful, however short vacations help as well. See a new sight, get away from your city, or meet new people all will help you improve your mood.  Improving your mood will help combat with depression, bad eating habits, and mental health.  One tank trips still exist try them out on those three day week ends.

Reduce your Stress: I am a severe migraine sufferer. Did you know most migraines stem from stress levels being extremely high?  A migraine puts strains on blood vessels, which cause other neurological problems. I am not a physician, I am a sufferer.  However, when on vacation my migraines cease.  The worries of what next leave me, waking up early, cooking, or even cleaning are not on my plate of things to do.  I recommend a massage while on vacation to enhance the stress reduction.

Vacations will help you find the visions that are inside you.  Lets get ready for 2020!
